Medical Micropigmentation

Scar Camouflage

While we always recommend attempting to revise scars using microchannelling first, some scars may continue to be hypopigmented if the melanocytes within the skin cannot be restimulated to produce normal skin tone.  In such cases, we are able to camouflage the scar to detract from the whitish appearance of the scar.  This is an advanced procedure that should be trusted only to experienced artists as working with skin toned pigments must be carefully approached.  We accomplish the camouflage using several complementary hues of color carefully layered over two or three sessions.  We are always mindful of the effect of the sun on camouflaged scars, so we create a translucence in order to ensure the treated area blends in seamlessly with the skin around it.
