Scar Reduction to Prep for Camouflage
When the skin is injured, deliberately, as with surgery, or accidentally, a tightly bound collagen matrix will form to protect the area from further injury. We ordinarily associate collagen with a youthful complexion; however, there are almost 30 different types of collagen and not all of them are what we want…one type is scar collagen. Procell Microchannelling for scar reduction involves several sessions of treatment at the affected area. Not only does treatment break up the scar tissue matrix, it also sends signals to other cells within the skin to begin a new repair process. When the skin is “re-wounded” in a controlled way under professional supervision, the new tissue that develops when the scar is treated is healthier and smoother and the scar is significantly less noticeable right up to possibly no longer seen at all. In addition, scars are often hypopigmented (white, without color). When the skin is “taught” to regulate, the melanin in the skin—cells responsible for color, can be stimulated back into normal.
